Congratulations DAISY Award Winner Alicia!

We are very excited to announce our latest DAISY Award recipient Alicia Markham! Congratulations Alicia and thank you for your unwavering commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality care to our patients.

The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way.

Alicia is an RN in the Multi Care Center at Beloit Memorial Hospital. She has demonstrated a dedication to not only providing excellent medical care but also making an impact on the lives of our patients. Alicia was celebrated with her colleagues, leaders, and the family who nominated her.

A patient wrote the following about Alicia:

“I was admitted late in the night and my wife had gone home for the day. I am 84 years old, hard of hearing, and struggle with anxiety as my medical conditions are progressing. I woke up early in the morning and was disoriented and very anxious. She came in to talk with me. She sat down next to me and spent the next 45 minutes reorienting me and alleviating my concerns. You made me feel heard when I was feeling lost and for that I can never thank you enough!”

Please join us in celebrating and congratulating Alicia for this well-deserved recognition and accomplishment. Congratulations!
